Its a necessity for my existence and leads the way to my true self and my deepest soul desire.” Unpredictable, mysterious and absolutely charming, the woman that is introduced as Black Cotton Doll, is for sure a category on her own. She is one of the most fascinating Jazz personalities and performers that we have come across. With only one and a half years in the music scene and started as a self taught singer that later on evolved to a thirsty vocalist for knowledge, she did the impossible. Her strong instinctive musicality her unique color of her voice and her ‘full’ artistic personality made her stand out soon in the music scene defying time and music limits. Her vocal ”games” and her passionate performances are already known across Athens, London and Greece. She has performed in various Jazz festivals and live music scenes and worked with talented and internationally well established players with not even being 2 years in the scene. She is inspired from the big ladies of Jazz and extraordinary vocally artists such as Rachelle Ferrell, Sarah Vaughan, Maria Joao, Υoun Sun Nah, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Layla Hathaway, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone etc. Ioanna Tsagari having the Blues Jazz and Soul music within, Swing, afro and R’n’B groove in her body and her east origins running through her vains interprets favorite jazz standards but also songs that inspire her with unique arrangements and improvisations always signing out her personal style. ”Music is one! According to me there are no limits, genres, or styles as long as the music is right..Then every music is a blessing.”
